A season for wild strawberries…oh, so sweet… Sorry it’s gone- we had it in July. Truth be told, the wild strawberry we have in mind is a single one and symbolic. The icon of Polish cooking, Magda Gessler, has distributed an entire basket of wild strawberries among the restaurants deserving recognition for their cooking and artistic flair
We have been given a fat, juicy wild strawberry for, in Magda’s opinion, tasty albeit far from fussy cuisine. I believe we were awarded for our simple and un-overbearing cooking and we’re proud of the compliment we were paid. After all, it’s a great honour to be among 101 best restaurants and hotels found on Magda’s culinary map. On Friday, July 11th, the group of the awarded restaurateurs met at Fukier’s, a jewel-in-the-crown of Magda Gessler’s restaurants. We were there as well, sipping exquisite wine from Robert Mielżyński and savouring wild strawberry gateau surrounded by a myriad of flowers perfuming the air. Magda herself baked the gateau to celebrate her birthday-many happy returns, Magda! By the way, do have a look in Magda’s guidebook if you don’t want to wander aimlessly from restaurant to restaurant-a little help is always welcome (and may save you sore feet).
