Giving opinions has become very fashionable. Most probably it’s the offshoot of the developing democracy and the liberty of speech. Anyway, if anyone can express their opinions on different platforms, we decided we could express OUR opinions as well. About ourselves, surely we are entitled, are we not? We approached the subject with due diligence- having got acquainted with the opinions posted by our guests (and the people who have never visited us but still expressed their views on behalf of others) we felt we were ready to say a few words about ourselves.
This is a story about whom our hotel is for and why some don’t like it. We would like to voice our opinions because for us the ATMOSPHERE is crucial.
A hotel is a rather public place, so if intimacy is what you are after staying in a hotel may not be the cutest idea. Particularly for the people living in detached houses surrounded by a garden and unaccustomed to close encounters with the neighbours. No matter how hard you try, you can never completely soundproof the rooms so a lot depends on good manners of the other guests. Let me put it this way- sometimes the manners are not quite what we expected.
The hotel is on the lake and that makes it attractive for families with children. I’m sorry, but I must disappoint you a bit. The premises are fairly small, there is no space in the rooms for extra beds and moreover on one side the hotel is adjacent to a village with a busy thoroughfare. We are more than happy to shut ourselves up in our fortress (same goes for the majority of our guests) and drink in the breath-taking lake views but the kids simply crave space where they can vent their energy. If you want to experience the feeling of freedom you can always get on the bike and pedal away into the forest, but if you want to go for a walk with a baby stroller that may be a problem. (There isn’t enough storage area for the strollers either). Sorry, but there is more: the water temperature in the swimming pool is perfect for swimming but too cool for wading. The pool is 1.5 meters deep- far too deep to be safe for children. Unfortunately it doesn’t get better at the lakeshore- there is no sand for the children to play on and no shallow water to splash in. I know, I know, you probably do not like what I’m saying, but I’d rather be honest than disappoint you once you have arrived. We are not a facility for families with small children and I would recommend you go to a SPA or resort that will meet your needs perfectly.
We do like children in general but we had to select our target group. Our hotel is perfect for single people travelling on business or couples without children (or the couples that managed to get the children temporarily minded by grandparents), gay couples, heterosexual couples and friends, anyone who wants to enjoy good food, wine and relaxation. This is a hotel for people who like spending time deckchair-to-deckchair, balcony-to-balcony, so to speak, who come here to luxuriate in the cosy, private atmosphere of the hotel.
Sometimes I am asked to explain the ‘private swimming pool’ notion. It’s a very simple concept. I will give you all the details about wellness section later, so now just a brief explanation. We aim to provide all our guests with an opportunity to relax in privacy. The pool is open to all guests 4 hours a day (free of charge), but from 10 am till 8 pm it is reserved solely for private use. Yes, it is a luxury and as for any other we will charge you extra for it.
Why would you like the hotel to be your home? The hotel used to be a place where travellers would stop to rest. Every journey had a destination. Nowadays, the hotel became the destination. Not a castle or a museum or the wonders of nature, but the hotel. We, the hoteliers, strive to meet all your needs but sometimes I wonder what has happened to all these interesting places in the world, have they all disappeared? Our hotel is absolutely wonderful but it is a hotel, so please do not demand what we cannot provide.
The price. Ah, that’s a sensitive issue. The price is never right. Some say it’s too high some say it’s too low. The way we calculate our rates is pure economics. The services we provide generate costs and delivering high quality products is never cheap. People who appreciate excellent quality are aware it’s going to be a bit pricey and do not get frustrated merely looking at the price of dumplings served in our restaurant. Has anyone been screaming in irritation about the prices of Armani or Dior? Ok, maybe someone has, but not us.
Promotions, promotions, promotions. Someone offers them others are looking for them. Not here. Galery69 is not participating in this race. We are not to be had at a discounted price. Blame yourself- our guests demand we stay the same, look the same, serve the same. They want us to remain as we are, very special, available to those who appreciate our uniqueness and who come here because they pondered all other options and they were not worth it.
Galery69 in a boutique hotel, a designer hotel, dreamed up, built and run by dreamers and creators who abhor cookie-cutter patterns of chain hotels. So open your eyes and behold!
If you have read the text till the very end and still want to come, you definitely must come! You’ll love it!
